An Elegant Hanford Wedding

As a designer, there are certain projects you just KNOW are going to be spectacular. Lindsay and Amos’s August 13th wedding in Hanford was one of those projects. I had the honor of being a part of the team that made this all happen, and am so pleased with the results! From the cascading blooms of hydrangeas, lilies, and orchids at the church, to the elegant letterpressed stationery suite, to the fabulous navy, cream, and fuchsia color palette of the reception it was a absolute dream wedding. The lovely Rachel McNamara of Rachel McNamara photography capture the details for us. Cirque du Coeur

On May 14, over 600 community members gathered at the home of Joseph and Ofelia Gallo for the annual Community Hospice Foundation gala. This year’s theme, Cirque du Coeur, or Circus of the Heart, paid homage to the incredible acts of bravery and feats of strength that happen every day at Community Hospice. Hospice is an organization that is near and dear to my heart – the nurse who cared for my grandmother became part of our family, guiding us through her final days and crying with us when she was gone. When I was approached to be part of the Gala this year I jumped at the chance.

The over 600 people in attendance were treated to an exquisite dinner, fantastic Cirque-style entertainment from the Silk Sisters, and lively silent and live auctions.

An Almond Orchard Engagement

Should You Hire a Wedding Planner?

My colleagues at The Aliet Group posted this wonderful checklist for determining whether or not you should consider hiring a planner. They summed it up so well I have posted it here for you! You can see their original post here.

Many couples never considered hiring a wedding planner. They simply do not realize that having professional assistance can save you time, stress, and even money. Here’s an easy checklist to find out if you need a wedding planner:

You’re way behind with the arrangements and are experiencing reoccurring nightmares
You both work full-time jobs that will prevent you from meeting with vendors on weekdays
You don’t have other outside help such as an involved mother-of-the-bride, helpful bridesmaids, or knowledgeable friends… who also do not aggravate you in any way
You are having a destination wedding
There are personality conflicts between the couple, their parents, and/or other people
You’re excited to be married, but just thinking about wedding planning fills you with dread
You’re having a very short engagement
You can envision your wedding, you have no idea how to make your dreams come true
You can’t even envision your wedding at all
You’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and generally wishing that you had just decided to elope
Even after you’ve read all the excellent advice offered in various wedding publications and on wedding web sites – in fact you’ve even read “weddings for dummies”, you still wish that you had someone to give you personal advice and leadership.

Food for thought: If you’ve ticked off one or more of the above options you should at least investigate hiring a wedding planner. If you are strictly budget conscious, this may of course be a way to save money – an expense that you can avoid. Having said this, you should bear in mind that due to ‘inside connections’ and vast experience, wedding coordinators are able to tap into valuable recourses and should avoid common mistakes. At the end of the day, hiring a wedding planner might be the most cost-effective way forward! It could be one of the best decisions you ever make! Here in the Central Valley of California we have had temperatures over 100*F for the last few weeks. Yes, I know it is summertime, and yes I know 100*F+ temperatures are not unusual for the Valley, but I have not experienced a Fresno heat wave in four years so I am a bit of a pansy about it. So much so that I started wishing for winter weddings in the cold and snow! I thought you might enjoy a bit of ice cold inspiration as well.
